Winding the Clock

Winding the Clock is a Russian literary euphemism for what? Kudos for any one who knows!

Ooooh, I know this one (I think I do) .............. I remember something from my degree module 'The History of World Languages' (believe me this is an achievement, it was the most boring lecture of the week! And on a Thursday morning after the social night out) that it somehow relates to ladies of the night or the opening of something which I won't mention if I am wrong. (As you can see I became instantly interested)

I do recall that the version I am thinking about took a really obscure way of getting there and had something to do with an English author who said his dad's routine was like clockwork and could therefore work out the precise moment he was conceived. Apparently, women in our society were frowned on if they said it.

I'm probably horrendously wrong so I will now attempt to find that link to prove to you all that I am not a raging pervert or completely delirious.

You already spoilt this question by telling all who were part of the WINNING quiz team last night the answer. I'm going to sulk now...

Mr Andy Hibbert is very close! Am impressed. Winding the Clock refers to husbandly duties (in the books they refer to once a month! ) or sex generally!
