eBay!

Post by Mike »

Has suspended my account! I wonder what is going on. I really hope I have not been charged for any ebaying items. . . . that would be a total bummer. . .

Are you sure you are not in receipt of a Spoof e-mail?

Be careful, don't reply to it, don't give any details and check from your eBay page instead.

I have had my account reinstated as apparently I have had my password cracked! This is really odd since I have not used the system in over a year. . . . Luckilly I am back online now and had not registered any bank or credit card details - Phew!

I suppose I had better go through all my passwords now and check they are different to the ebay one to ensure it does not happen elsewhere. I was unsatisfied with their response, how, why were suspiciously absent from their responses.

About six months ago I received a similar email telling me that my password had been cracked. I was deeply suspicious and actually emailed eBay through their site to confirm that they had actually sent the message.

Turned out that they had sent the email, but I too got no information as to what had happened and what they intended to do to stop it happening again. What are they hiding?

The only way I can think that they would know a password had been cracked was if there were a leak of information or a security compromise within their own organisation that was spotted and stopped.

Otherwise, how could they possibly know?

I was thinking an internal job too. I don't know how else they could have possibly spotted it! Worrying though.
