Mike and myself were talking about restoration of old Doctor Who episodes and I was saying how surprising it is that such a lot of work has to be done to put even fairly recent stories on DVD.

and it makes really fascinating reading. I'm still amazed that the programmes made in the Tom Baker era are in such bad shape technically. It doesn't seem that long ago, but I guess it shows the transient nature of electronic media.

That is quite a dated website but the content is amazing! I liked the description of the restoration process (especially for the episodes I recognised).
