EA Games have announced that they are going to release an online version of their famous Battlefield franchise free over the internet in Europe and US of A. The game will be supported by advertising on the front end of the system and the website and if you want through purchases of equipment to customise your character.
They are going to try and make it a pick up and play cartoonified system to try and make is more Wii like in its mass appeal. I don't know how successful this will be but it is supposedly earning them $1million ever month in a South Korean test. . .

Re: Battlefield 'Online'
South Korea has a major online gaming culture, so maybe not a true reflection of how it will fare in the US and Europe. Still, the "free" bit does intrigue me...except for our shared internet connection being somewhat naff for stuff like that, as there's not consistent bandwidth. Or any at all at the moment (possible hardware fault= sucky: I'm at work typing this).
