Was a government (or Royal) company owned by the nation. It was then privatised and started loosing money hand over fist when the government tried to impose the perks of a monopoly into a competitive environment. No the Post Offices are closing to save money in the competitive world and Essex council are looking to run 32 of the proposed closures thus bringing the cycle nicely full circle.
What an amazing waste of money and effort.

Re: The Post Office
As staggeringly successful as the privatisation of the Directory Enquiries services. Who needed it?
Whilst we're talking about post offices though, a word of Praise for our local Tyldesley Post Office. Splendid and friendly service from everyone. Any and every office like that lost will be a tradgedy.
