Napoleon Dynamite

Post by Mike »

What a quality film. We managed to watch this bizarre comedy on sat night. All good fun but wtf were some of the bostaff skills on about???? What a geek, I am so glad I was not him when his uncle threw a steak at his head and knocked him off his bike.

Funnily the uncle then went on to claim he could throw a 'pig skin' over some mountains. . ..

5S

The bo staff skills were funny (I'd say it's a D&D/RPG reference): there's a few places where he just makes stuff up (to impress?). It's probably a cult classic, and with good reason. I can see not everyone liking it, as the humour is certainly not to everyone's tastes, very deadpan, slightly uncomfortable maybe. I loved it, though.

4S

Is my objective rating, but personally I might go 4.5

I had been meaning to see if for some time and am glad that I got to see it in the company of other people with a slightly warped sense of humour (admit it, we all laughed when the farmer shot the cow in front of that school bus full of kids!!).

A deeply odd film, with some genuinely funny, laugh out loud moments and a proper 'feel good' ending. I thoroughly enjoyed this and therefore give it a whole 5S.
Nothing says "romance" like a kidnapped injured woman!

bizarre

The film was not funny in the jokey sense but was truly bizarre, weird and wonderful, a bit like 'Super Troopers'. To this moment I still can't figure out if Napoleon's brother ended up dating a man or woman? but I found feeding the lama hysterical, a tearfully funny

4S

One star subtracted for giving his uncle a seemingly happy ending after spending the entire movie being a complete git!
