One flew over the Cookoo's nest

Post by Mike »

This is a film about a rather colourful character who tries to escape work detail in prison by being committed to a mental institution. Upon arrival he bands together the inmates against the rather dictatoral Nurse Ratched.

I really liked this film, as mr_e will no doubt confirm! Supurb acting and I was surprised by the 1975 film date on imdb.

5S

A superb film and despite the subject matter, not in the slightest bit depressing.

Wonderful acting from Jack Nicholson. Probably my favourite film of his, closely followed by Easy Rider.

A definite 5S from me as well.

Did you know that it had been parodied in the Simpsons. When Homer is sent to the mental institue for wearing a pink shirt (and Barts poor judgement in filling in a Mental Health Questionnaire), they introduce him to The Chief.

Homer "Hiya Chief"
Chief "Hello!"

This is then followed by a bunch of keen scientists and doctor who are fascinated by the explaination "No one really speaks to me here!"

Classic Simpsons.

Is that the one where Michael Jackson guest voices?

Yup, either that or it is a guest vocal double. . . .

that episode is quality. I can still remember ''Lisa its your birthday, god blessed you this day......''

I think it must be a voice parody because Wacko Jacko would surely never provide them with the rights to show him like that.

lol, I should have known that you would have that episode on DVD somewhere!

This seems to give a clue to our answer here. It is an authentic voice but credited under a different name. I don't know if I should believe this or not. I will try and find a second source with the same information!

A Second source.

A Third source.
